The babies are all still doing really well. They are all off of their IV fluids now, so only have the little feeding tube in their noses, which they use on a couple feedings a day because they get too tired to take bottles all the time. Micah and Derek are taking 40 cc's (about 1 1/3 ounces) per feeding, and are taking bottles 6 times a day (the other feedings are through their feeding tubes), and Andrew (our little guy) is taking 35 cc's (just over 1 ounce) per feeding, and is taking 4 bottles a day. Last night and tonight I got to nurse all of them, though, and the nurses and doctor could not believe how well they did with it. Micah and Derek got it right away, and Andrew hasn't totally caught on yet, but he's getting there...we'll keep practicing. Tyler took such a long time to catch on to everything, so we thought it would for sure take these babies forever to learn how this all works, but they are doing amazing! Another answered prayer!
They have all dropped a bit of weight from their birth weight, but are now moving back up closer to where they were. Andrew weighs 4 lbs 7 oz, Derek weighs 5 lbs 10 oz, and Micah weighs 4 lbs 13 oz.
We've had a few people ask us if they can come and see the boys in the NICU. We are so excited to show the babies off, but the NICU at Sanford has changed within the last 5 years. There is now not a window that you can see the babies through. Only parents and immediate family can go back to their room, and even family has to be with either Evan or I. So pictures will have to do for now!
Because they aren't hooked up to as many cords anymore, we were able to get the boys all together for their first picture together....how adorable are these??!! :)

ReplyDeleteYou guys probably don't know me, but I am your mom's cousin, Heather, and I have been keeping track of you, via my mom, via your grandma since you found out you were pregnant with triplets. We just got back from Bible Study where we have also been praying for you and everyone was so excited and thankful to God that everything went so well. My mom was on our answering machine when we got home about your blog information so I just wanted to let you know that your family has people all over praying for you. God bless.
ReplyDeleteWe just wanted to say congratulations! What a wonderful blessing to have such healthy little guys :) We praise God with you and pray that you may find joy and peace in all the excitement and chaos. Emily Postma
