The Boys - 4 days old

Our new little boys are 4 days old! It's been a whirlwind for the past couple of days. I got out of the hospital just last night, and am still having a lot of pain from the c-section, and am just SO ready to feel good again! It's great to be home, and my mom has been here today taking care of me. Tyler went with Evan's mom back to her house for a few days to let me recover. He looks SO huge to us now! We told him that the babies came out of mommy's tummy, and he said, "Oh" and then said, "Daddy hide with me." He doesn't seem to care about them too much yet! :)

The babies are doing really good! Andrew and Derek came off of all of their breathing help (c-paps and nasal cannulas) by 24 hours after they were born, and Micah never needed any help. Basically we are just working on feeding with the babies -- getting them to learn how to coordinate sucking/swallowing/breathing. They have feeding tubes in their noses and they have IV's to help them get nourishment, but as they can take more milk through a bottle, they will get to come off of the tubes and IV's. Micah has been eating from a bottle since day 1, and his other brothers joined him the next day. Before they eat each time, they make sure that they have digested what they ate the feeding before, and if they've digested enough, then they get another bottle at that feeding time. Once they are off their IV's, they'll let me start nursing. Tomorrow Micah and Derek will start taking 30 cc's of milk, and Andrew will take 20 cc's. Andrew is a little behind the other two with eating...his digestive tract is a little slower at starting up, but we're hoping he catches up soon.

They also are all on billy blankets for now, but their levels don't seem to be going up, so hopefully they can be off of those soon. They will be moving to cribs (out of their isolettes) possibly by this weekend. Everything is moving along! They don't give us any sort of timeline as to when they'll be out of the hospital because they say learning to eat can take longer than we first think. They can make progress, then go backwards for a day, etc. We don't have any expectations at this time....we're just so thrilled that they're doing as well as they are!

Yesterday Evan and I were both holding a baby, and we just looked at each other like "can you believe these are ALL ours??" How amazing our God is....He has blessed us beyond what we could've ever imagined. I can't believe we have four healthy sons!! It honestly still all feels like a dream.
