Baptism

Our little Tyler got baptized on Sunday...it was such a great day! Tyler slept through most of the service but once we got up on the stage, he was awake and got into his frantic "I want to go to sleep" mode, so he just sucked on his pacifier like crazy when he was getting water dumped on his head.

It's the most amazing thing to have your baby baptized....to know that this little person that God has blessed you with knows nothing about what is going on, and obviously has done nothing to deserve God's blessing, yet God completely covers him in His eternal grace. It's hard to imagine Tyler as a sinner already, but he is, so how awesome is it that God sees him as being this clean, perfect little soul already? And he will for his whole life?! What an absolutely amazing gift we've been given as Christians. Seeing my own child be baptized gives me an overwhelming and renewed sense of gratitude for what Christ has done for us...we have so much hope!

Evan said something last night that just stuck with me, too. He was holding Tyler and we were talking about how cute he is (again). :) Sometimes we both just can't believe that he is OUR baby -- it's still such a miracle. Even after you go through the whole trying to get pregnant stage, the pregnancy, the labor and delivery...how is it that it still seems unreal that it all really happened and that he is OURS now? Evan just said that it's so obvious that WE couldn't have done this (made Tyler). There's nothing more God-revealing than having a baby. He said, "It's so amazing that God made Tyler and we just got lucky enough to be his parents." How blessed we are.

Here's Tyler in his baptism outfit. Evan's mom made this for him...it turned out adorable (Thanks, Mom Anema!)! She also made him this gorgeous white blanket with blue ribbon running through the edge of it (you can see it a little bit on the picture). My mom bought him little satin shoes, so he was all decked out. I'll put more pics up later...they're on my mom's camera so I can't get to them right now.

Tyler found his thumb! Lately he almost likes his thumb or his fist better than he likes his pacifier. He put himself to sleep sucking his thumb in his swing the other day....

So...the Johnny Jump Up says "4months and up", but we tried it a little early. He wasn't so sure right away what to do, but then he really started liking it! He looks so tiny in it yet (we have to stuff a blanket in the seat behind him so he doesn't wobble all over), and he doesn't jump, but he likes that he can "stand" in it by himself. We were dying laughing when he was in this for the first time. He just stood there and looked at us like, "what are you people doing to me?"
