Things are getting wild over here. All four boys continue to show their rambunctious and curious sides! We think Andrew's personality has changed the most over the last little while. He's jabbering way more (yesterday he started putting two words together..."Hi Daddy" over and over all day. The cutest thing EVER!), and is still the sweet, cuddly, little Andrew, but I think that also is his way for covering up his rowdy side. He walks up to his brothers with his fluffy hair and his big sweet blue eyes and acts like he is going to just put his arms around them and hug them, but then he tackles them to the floor! And he has kung-fu grip...if he gets his brothers' shirt or hood, watch out. That hand is not coming off until someone pries it off....no matter how bad his brother is screaming! He grabs everything with those strong little fingers....his favorite thing right now is to grab a handful of skin on your face or neck and hold on. I didn't even know I had a handful of skin on my face! But sure enough....I do.
The boys are also fighting. A lot. I think it's mostly because they (we) are SO sick of being in the house. We have had 3 major snow and ice storms in April, our last one being yesterday, which dropped about 7 inches on Sioux Falls. We had drifts 2 feet tall in our backyard! Needless to say, playing outside has not been an option, which is making us all batty. Derek and Andrew fight the worst. If Derek doesn't get his way, he hits. Sometimes I think he doesn't even know his own strength. He's just a big kid with big hands, and he's a little muscle man! Andrew just stands there and takes it and cries, and then tackles him later and pulls his hair or something. Micah is rarely involved. Good boy, Micah man. We've actually started giving them a little alone time during the days now, which I think we'd all need! I put one downstairs, one in their room with a gate by the door, and one out in the living room upstairs. Tyler can pick who he wants to play with then. It usually goes okay, and they usually act like they enjoy having some time to themselves.
This was the week after Easter when there was NOT snow on the ground. First we stopped in Sioux Center to see Evan's grandma, and then went on to Evan's brother and sister in laws house in Orange City. They made us this amazing, huge Easter egg hunt in their yard, which the boys loved! Tyler was in heaven. The babies didn't get it quite yet, but still loved running around!
Derek and Daddy...
Micah has such a sweet personality. He is so laid back, and rarely is involved in the fighting, although if Evan or I lay down on the floor, he's the first one to barrel over to us with those chunky little thighs and pounce on top of us! When it's getting close to the time that he normally wakes up in the morning or after his nap, we have to check him often, because when he wakes up he doesn't cry. He just hangs out in his bed talking or sucking his thumb until we come in. He is talking a ton, and says "Tyler" really well and "alright!". Derek says "Andrew", "Nuk", "flower" and also says words together, like, "uh oh daddy!" Last night in his sleep he was saying "oh no, oh no, oh no!" So funny to hear a little voice come over the monitor now!
This is baby Braden...my brother and sister in law's 3 mo. old baby. He's such a doll, and Tyler loves him! He sat like this a lot, and just wanted to look at him and talked so sweet to him and tried to get him to smile. Makes me wonder what he would've been like with our babies if he had been a little older when they came home. Sometimes I ask Evan, "Why were we in such a hurry to have more babies, again?" And he says, "b/c it took a long time for it to happen last time, and we thought we'd have one at a time." Oh right. That's how normal people do it. :)
Tyler and Derek coloring. Derek wants to do everything Tyler does. If Tyler is coloring, Derek gets up on to a chair. When Derek is with his other brothers, and I try to get them to color, they all rip their paper up and eat it. But when Tyler is there, Derek will do whatever he does. He acts SO similar to how Tyler did/does.
In the morning if Tyler watches cartoons, Derek crawls right up and wants to watch, too. And he has to have some of the blanket on him. Tyler is starting to think it's fun! Isn't this peaceful??....
And then about 30 seconds later, the two other brothers attack, and try to pull the blanket off, and Tyler screams and kicks, and the peace is over. :)
Playing with puff balls, yarn, pipe cleaners....this is as organized as it gets, and it usually lasts about 5 min. before it's all on the floor.
And a few pics of our ice storm that we had a couple of weeks ago....our poor swingset. We had just put the swings back out the week before.
