Rice Cereal

Tyler is getting so big! Just this morning he rolled from his back to his stomach, and when we go in to get him out of his crib in the morning, he's usually laying completely sideways sucking on his hand. And he is eating SO much lately! He's been eating on average about 35 - 40 ounces of milk a day. He was sleeping so good (like from 9 p.m. through 6 a.m.) but just last week he started waking up starving hungry in the middle of the night again. So we started him on rice cereal this week! It's been quite the adventure. The first night he HATED it, but by the second night he was getting a little better already. He probably gets half of it in his mouth and the other half goes all over his bib, his chin, his daddy, etc. He learned to spit recently, as well, so sometimes a big blob of rice cereal goes flying when he decides it's more fun to spit it than eat it. Yesterday Evan said on the way to work he noticed his glasses were dirty, and when he took them off he realized there was rice cereal all over them. :)

We've been going through some tough times with Evan's grandpa and grandma Van Maanen lately. They got in a little fender bender a few weeks ago when grandpa was driving, and it set off the air bag on grandma's side of the car. The pressure from that fractured a vertebrae which put her in the hospital in Sioux Falls. She had to have surgery for that and since then they've discovered a cracked sternum, broken ribs, etc. and she's been also having problems with her digestion and intestines. So...it's sort of multiplied into a lot of different problems. Also, grandpa was at home in Hull waiting for her to come home, but while she was in the hospital, he started having some heart issues, which put him in the hospital in Sioux Center. Since then he's been moved to the nursing home, which is a huge adjustment for him. Hopefully grandma will be able to join him there soon. So....please pray for both of them to have peace about all of these adjustments and for healing for grandma especially. Grandpa is turning 94 this week and grandma is 84.

Here are some pictures of our little man!

Eating rice cereal. As long as he could suck on the spoon, he was happy. :)

He gets progressively messier and messier while he's eating....
We set up his Jumperoo for him to play in, but he's a little small for it yet, so we had to put a tupperware under him so his feet could reach the floor! He loves it, though!

Here he is eating his swing.... :)

We think he's changing so much already. All of a sudden he looks more like a little boy than a baby!!
