Evan and I took the troops to the zoo on Saturday, and had the best time! It was gorgeous outside, and all the boys were content for over 2 hours (that's a record!). I think almost everyone we passed made a comment about our choo choo wagon or the boys or something. I'm not exaggerating. Evan isn't always with the boys during the day pushing them around, so he was amazed at how many people say things to us! It was probably the most attention we've gotten all in one place before. It's still so crazy to me that people make this big of a deal about our normal life!
The next day (Sunday) we went for a walk with our choo choo wagon in our neighborhood, and a lady pulled over in her car by us and asked if we had quads (she thought Tyler was the same age as the babes). She said that she has 21 year old triplet boys and lives right in our neighborhood. She gave me her name and number....I'd love to talk to her more about raising those boys! It's just so neat to see the connections that these little boys bring about in our lives. We've said that from the beginning. People we'd never have a chance or reason to meet are a big part of our lives now b/c we had 3 babies at a time. Even with twins we wouldn't have met a lot of these people. So interesting to see how God is working through it all...
Our bedtime routine is getting pushed back a little, so we've had some challenges with that at night time. Micah, who is normally our easiest guy to put to bed, won't go down without a fight. He and Andrew share a room upstairs (b/c Derek used to be so hard to put to bed, so he had to have his own room downstairs by Tyler's room), and the last few nights we have been letting him throw a fit in his bed for awhile. This of course makes Andrew cry. Poor Andrew. But we don't know where else to put Micah b/c Derek is already sleeping downstairs, usually. So we sometimes hold Andrew until Micah is done screaming. Andrew won't sleep downstairs b/c he's not used to it. It's a fiasco that only exists once again b/c there are 3 of these guys! Micah also has learned how to crawl out of his crib, which adds to the fun of this all, so I stand outside of his door (last night it was 30 min), while he throws a fit to make sure that he doesn't flip himself out of his crib. I had to stop him probably 6 times last night. Stinker! It's like our guys have this plan and they all decide that someone is going to be a pain that night. Let's never give mom and dad a night off! :)
Here are the boys getting ready for bed...we line them up, put on a dvd for them (I'm embarrassed to say that it's "The Wiggles". We hate it. They love it. So we watch it!), and feed them their bedtime snack. Derek, Micah, Andrew.
The boys are talking up a storm, and putting two words together now (Mommy's eye, Daddy's car, Tyler's house), and really understanding things. It's just so amazing to watch!
Everyone LOVES helping me in the kitchen. The other day I came in there, and Derek had slid a chair up to the counter and was just waiting for me to come in so he could watch me bake or cook or something. This is making me bake way more since they want to help me do it! A mama's dream come true to have her four boys baking with her. :)
Grandpa Ken and Micah....
Andrew and Micah...
Grandpa is already trying to turn Micah into a Yankee's fan.
Grandma Nancy and Tyler playing in the sand box...Tyler loved it that she just crawled right in there with him and got her hands all dirty making a tunnel! :)
Micah man....he was so photogenic that day!
Eating snacks in the fort on the deck...
Andrew....my little snuggler...he's been waking up the earliest lately and I think it's b/c he knows he gets snuggle time with mom and dad by himself in our bed if he does that.
I've been meaning to post these pics from June. We went to Reign Fest and saw Go Fish perform in Platte with my parents and Grandma Lieuwen. The boys were so cute in their little lawn chairs. Derek really liked the music and danced a lot! Micah lasted about 2 songs, and then cried until Evan took him home (too loud?), and Andew just wanted to snuggle on my dad's shoulder most of the time in the back of the crowd. Tyler loved it for awhile, but then got antsy. No one lasted too long, but it was fun to go anyway!
Tyler and Spike...my parents' dog. ALL of the boys love dogs. If they hear one bark outside, they all run to the window and say "puppy, puppy, puppy!!"
